Course Details

Background

Currently, production of honey and other bee products is on a small scale, and lacks commercial institutions that should drive it to higher heights.  It is not viewed as a money spinner for rural households in the same way they view maize and livestock production.  Organized markets are generally lacking.  Developing this sector can give Zambia a world place in honey supply and can be instrumental in preserving forests.  Honey and other bee products have the potential to transform rural livelihoods at a rate higher than traditional commodities like maize have done.
